Ok la ho ma! Oklahoma OK!

These cowboys have been keeping me busy. Their final dress rehersal for their show is in just a few minutes and I have been at the school about 5 hours a day for the past month. I'm running the primary choir with my good friend, Sue and we've been there painting, stapling, and doing whatever else needs to be done to get this show ready. Noah and Zach are in all 3 shows- Sound of Music, King and I and my favorite, Oklahoma. I love waking up to them singing their songs. This is such an amazing experience for them.

And this cowboy is playing Will. He has 2 solos and lots of dance numbers. I am so proud of him and how hard is working. He is totally getting into character and looks and sounds so good. (I'm his mom- I can boast!) He's looking so grown up!

I was just thinking how proud I am of all of them. They leave the house at 7:30 and don't get home until 7:30 some nights and yet they are all keeping up on their homework, going to practices, being pretty pleasant to each other... They are such good boys.

Today is a SUPER busy one. From rehersal we are going to church and then bible study. Busy but with wonderful things.

A good, quick dinner

I keep trying to use my crockpot more. It makes me feel like a better mom when I have dinner figured out before lunch. Today I made the simplist thing and it was super YUMMY.

Take a 7 bone roast, rub it with crushed garlic, salt and pepper. Dump some peppercinis and the juice on it and turn the pot on.

I toasted some ciabata bread, melted some cheese on it and made sandwiches. Soooo good! Spicy for the kids though.

Just thougtht I'd share :)

Cambria- part 2

Sunday morning we went to Moonstone beach for breakfast. We met up with our friends and got a table for 20. If you are ever in the area you have to go to Moonstone Bar and Grill. We ordered Pacific French Toast for the table to share while we were waiting for our food. Talk about to die for! It was like a bread pudding with tons of berries, grand marnier and whipped cream. YUM!

It was super cold and windy. We went to walk on the beach and explore. They have really cool tidepools there.

After hanging out at our house for a bit we met up with our other friends, Debbie, Raul and Sophia. We took a drive to San Simeon to see the seals. They were HUGE and it was COLD! It was seriously way colder than when we went to the snow last month. It was worth it though. It's just wild to see hundreds of elephant seals and their little babies. Or I should say big babies.

You can just tell how cold the water was!

That night we grabbed a flashlight and walked to our friends house in dark. It was so much fun. It was my favorite part. It felt like such an adventure. We made dinner and played games. I forgot how much I loved scatergories! I have to make time for more game nights.

It poured and poured all night. I woke up at 6 with tons of anxiety that we were not going to be able to make it home. The rain was pounding and I could hear the waves crashing. Luckily it died down a bit and while our ride home was very wet but uneventful.

Cambria

Friday was a busy day...busy is kinda of an understatement. It started with book reports in Zach's class, then I ran home and picked up the food for Zach's Valentine's party. I ran back to school for book summeries for Joey's class and then Zach's Valentine party. I made pink heart waffles, chicken apple sausage, strawberries and whipped cream and Valentine bingo. It was a very fun party. I ran into Noah's class and then ran home to pack the car for our trip.
We got a late start to Cambria and it was pretty stressful. We were in prime traffic with lots of rain and it took us 9 hours instead of 5 to get there. Our first stop was for dinner in Encino and then at the Santa Barbara Mission, in the dark. I love the shadow picture we got in front of it.

When we finally got to our house at midnight we were THRILLED. I seriously wanted to move in. You walked downstairs and all the bedrooms were there. Our room and my mom's room had a patio and a view of the ocean. Upstairs was a HUGE living room, dining room and kitchen with a view all the way around. Plus another patio that wrapped around the house. To top it off was a third floor loft with a tv room. Unbelievable!

On Saturday Dave and I took off to meet up with our friends for wine tasting in Paso Robles. It felt like we were in Ireland with all the green hills all around. We had great wine, great food and great company. My mom and the boys stayed at the house and walked down to the beach to climb rocks and explore. We came back and went into town for dinner. We had the yummiest dinner! Then we head back to Paso Robles to meet our other friends. They rented the coolest place with horses, an aviary and a huge lot. The kids were in heaven playing with the dog and baby Sophia.

Changes in the weather

Who says we don't have weather in Cali? Just a few days ago we were at the beach and today it's raining. A LOT ! That's weather, right?

I love both kinds. I was just loving the beautiful weather and the cold and rainy is making me want to cook and stay home. Too bad I really can't stay home but I did make Spinach Tortellini Soup last night and now I'm running out to make chocolate cherry cupcakes. I'm going scrappin tonight and I'm so happy to be getting out to chat with friends and maybe even get a little scrappin done. Hubby has been gone all week and last night I was done. You know when you just get "done".
